Juventus are in the midst of a transitional season and that could mean one of the club’s key defenders moving on in the January window.

According to La Repubblica, Matthijs de Ligt has grown tired at the lack of progress from the Turin side on the pitch and is now seriously considering his options in this transfer window.

De Ligt hasn’t had the best of seasons in Serie A, but is still considered one Europe’s most talented and promising defenders.

As such, the Italian publication are reporting that should the 22-year-old talent look to leave Juventus, Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich would all seriously consider moves to try and tempt them to their corner of the continent.

So how likely is De Ligt to leave Juventus in the near future and how much would he cost to sign?

Could De Ligt leave Juventus?

As the Italian giants have shown with the likes of Joao Cancelo, Moise Kean, Miralem Pjanic and indeed Cristiano Ronaldo, every player in Juventus’ squad has his price.

Couple that with the club’s financial situation and the very real need to lower the wage bill and there may be some interest in cashing in on De Ligt.

However, it remains to be seen whether the potential suitors would indeed be prepared to offer a substantial fee for the young defender.

How much is De Ligt worth?

Although De Ligt may be interested in leaving the club, that doesn’t exactly mean he would be a cheap option for other sides across Europe.

The Netherland’s international only made the move to Juventus in 2019 for a handsome fee of €85.5 million and has a contract at the club that is set to run until 2024.

As such, despite any demands to move on, De Ligt is still valued at €78 million and could demand a fee as high as €97m if he were to move in January or the summer window.
