Man Utd told not to make Ronaldo reunion by Neville

Cristiano Ronaldo should not re-sign for Manchester United, according to club legend Gary Neville.

Ronaldo made his big professional breakthrough at Man Utd, having graduated through the academy of Sporting CP. Indeed, the Portuguese superstar not only won the Champions League during his time at Old Trafford, but he also won the first of five Ballons d’Or.

Since leaving for Real Madrid, he has only further established his legendary status, winning the European Cup on another four occasions and departing Los Blancos as their all-time leading scorer, netting at the rate of more than a goal per game.

Now with Juventus, Ronaldo has made history in Italy by becoming the quickest player to reach 100 goals for the Turin side.

There are reports, however, that Juventus are seeking to severe their ties with the prolific Portuguese, which were only enhanced on Sunday when he was left on the bench for a vital Serie A encounter against Bologna.

Juve won the match 4-1 to seal qualification to the Champions League, but Ronaldo may not be with them for that competition. Both Man Utd and Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring the situation.

Neville on Ronaldo return to Man Utd

Neville, though, does not believe that Man Utd should reunite with the icon.

On Twitter, he posted in response to a question on Ronaldo: “Love him but think it’s better to leave the memories where they are.”

It is an opinion that has split opinion among fans, though some were quick to remind Neville of his own difficult managerial career.

“This is why Valencia sacked you,” one fan quipped.

The former England defender played the duration of his career with Man Utd and was a team-mate of Ronaldo during his six-year stint with the club.

In total, Ronaldo scored 118 times for Man Utd in 292 appearances for the club.
