Real Madrid are the latest big club to table an offer to sign Juventus superstar Federico Chiesa, according to reports in Spain.

Fichajes claims that Madrid have drawn up an offer worth €100 million for the flying wideman.

Chiesa was one of the stars of Italy’s victorious Euro 2020 campaign, playing a key role for the Azzurri in the knockout stages.

He broke the deadlock in extra time during Italy’s 2-1 win over Austria in the last 16, while he also found the net in the semi-final success against Spain.

In the final triumph over hosts England, Chiesa was a constant thorn in the home side’s defence before being forced off injured before the end of the 90 minutes.

What clubs want to sign Chiesa?

Chiesa’s performances at the Euros have led to a raft of interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.

It was widely reported that both Chelsea and Liverpool presented offers in the summer worth around €100m.

German giants Bayern Munich were also very public in their desire to sign the wideman, who turns 24 next week.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann told Bild am Sonntag in July: “I would definitely want to sign Chiesa.

“He is a super player, because he embodies incredible verve and dynamism. I’ve known him for a long time and think he’s outstanding, because he’s so carefree, he likes to dribble and goes for the finish quickly.”

Recently, it has also been reported in the English and Italian media that Newcastle United are prepared to bid over €100m for Chiesa following their Saudi-led takeover.

Will Juventus sell Chiesa?

However, neither Real Madrid nor any of these other interested clubs have much chance of signing Chiesa in 2022.

Chiesa only joined Juve from Fiorentina a year ago, initially on a two-year loan deal that will then become permanent in 2022.

The Bianconeri paid €10m in 2020 to Fiorentina for the loan. They will then pay a further €40m to the Viola next year plus an extra €10m potentially in bonuses.

With Chiesa still in between a loan and permanent move, this is not a transfer that realistically can be done until the summer of 2022 at the earliest.

But most importantly, Chiesa is considered not for sale at any price by Juventus.

The Bianconeri endured a miserable 2020/21 season and only narrowly qualified for the Champions League on the final day after Napoli slipped up at home to Verona.

They also were eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16 by Porto.

The Bianconeri brought back Massimiliano Allegri as coach for this season and have identified Chiesa as the central pillar of his new Juventus team.

Although the Bianconeri have had a slow start to their Serie A campaign, in Europe they have won both of their Champions League matches. And it was Chiesa who was the star of the show in the 1-0 victory over Chelsea, scoring a fantastic goal.

Juve have been aiming to reduce the age and salary of the squad over the past 12 months.

Over the last year they have sold or released the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Blaise Matuidi, Miralem Pjanic, Sami Khedira and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo most recently.

The 36-year-old Ronaldo earned a gross salary of €60m a year and Juventus want to build their next team around younger and hungrier homegrown stars like Chiesa.

While Ronaldo represents the past, Chiesa represents the present and the future.

He enjoyed an outstanding first season with the Bianconeri, scoring 15 goals and making 11 assists in 46 games.

He repeatedly demonstrated an ability to perform in the biggest matches, as he scored against Inter, Milan, Atalanta and the winner in the Coppa Italia final, as well as all of Juve’s goals in the Champions League knockouts.

This was then carried over to Euro 2020, where he starred at Wembley in the games versus Austria, Spain and England.

And this season, he has already shone in the biggest match of the season versus Chelsea.

Juventus simply won’t entertain any offers for Chiesa and the player himself is happy at the club and in Serie A.
