Danny Rohl 'under pressure' at Rangers

Danny Rohl is under pressure at Rangers after back-to-back Scottish Premiership defeats, but he insists that he retains the full backing of the Ibrox hierarchy.

The 37-year-old was appointed as the new Rangers head coach back in October, following a dismal start to the 2025-26 season under Russell Martin, and he guided the club back into title contention during his early months in charge.

However, losses to Motherwell and Hearts in their last two league fixtures mean that a minor miracle is now required for Rangers to lift the title, although they could put a serious dent in Celtic’s bid for glory during the Old Firm derby on Sunday afternoon.

Rohl has been an excellent appointment by the Ibrox board, but The Daily Record have revealed that he is “under pressure” thanks to their current form, with rumours indicating that he has emerged as a target for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in recent days.

Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been linked with a sensational return to the club amid reports that Rohl could depart this summer, but the ex-Sheffield Wednesday manager has confirmed that he has no intention of leaving Ibrox.

Danny Rohl responds to exit rumours

Speaking to reporters ahead of Rangers’ clash against Celtic on Sunday, Rohl admitted: “There’s a lot of rumours. When I look back at last year and how many clubs I was linked with, I could maybe have got 20 jobs according to the newspapers.

“My full focus is on Rangers. Even in the last couple of days, my conversations with the club and the board were all in one direction: how we can win titles in the future.”

When asked if he will still be in charge next season, Rohl added: “From my side, of course, 100 percent. I’m convinced. I chose this club for the reason to bring it back to success and win titles.

“A good process is not enough for this club. That’s not what we want. We want titles and to do this, we have to change things.”

He continued: “I feel it every day, the support. From the conversations we had, we’ve spoken so much about what we want to change for the summer. I feel I’m in the right place with the right people with a lot of motivation and positive energy.”
