Rangers receive official striker transfer message
Rangers have been urged to sign a new centre forward during the January transfer window amid the struggles of summer signings Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski.
The Ibrox giants spent just shy of €30 million to bolster their first-team squad over the summer, but they are expected to dip back into the market next month following several notable transfer failures.
New boss Danny Rohl has overseen an uptick in results since his arrival, however Rangers remain nine points behind Scottish Premiership league leaders Hearts and mid-season reinforcements have been deemed necessary.
The aforementioned Chermiti and Miovski have scored a combined seven goals in 41 matches so far this season and Rangers’ top goalscorer in the league so far this term is right-back James Tavernier with just four strikes.
The Gers have been tipped to pursue a January deal for Kilmarnock midfielder David Watson, but former goalkeeper Cameron Bell has urged the Scottish giants to sign a new striker and a new centre-back instead.

“Listen, you're looking at the striker department because again, there's not enough goals coming from that department,” Bell told Superscoreboard (via Glasgow World). “So again, they have spent a lot of money obviously, on Chermiti and Miovski is there as well.
“So they've spent money but it's just not worked out. They've not got the return from those two guys that they were expecting and there's other areas that you mentioned defensively.
“I think they just need to get players but I think centre-half, when you look at the two centre-halves they're having to play at this moment in time, it has been a bit of an issue.
“But listen, I think what Danny Rohl’s done since he came in is he's won games. That is what was asked of him. It might not be pretty but Saturday was a big win.”
