Steven Gerrard picks first Rangers signing: Liverpool legend heading to Ibrox

Steven Gerrard is expected to be named as the new Rangers manager and is already making plans for the summer transfer window.
Gerrard knows that a major overhaul of the squad at Ibrox is required if he is to challenge Celtic’s domestic dominance once again, and the former England international is set to lure a Liverpool legend to the Light Blues.
Jordan Henderson could well hook up with his former Anfield team-mate at Rangers, the Liverpool Echo reports, noting that the player’s future at Ajax is in serious doubt after the departure of head coach Francesco Farioli.
Henderson even put questioned his own future at the club when speaking after the 2-0 win over FC Twente on the final day of the Eredivisie season.
“It depends on which direction the club wants to go. They have to make tough decisions,” he is quoted as saying by FCUpdate.
During the January transfer window, Henderson was wanted by Monaco but a deal was knocked back. Now it appears that he could be on his way out of Ajax, despite having a year left to run on his deal.

Jordan Henderson on Steven Gerrard
Henderson has previously expressed his admiration for Gerrard as a player on several occasions and could take his first steps into coaching under the former Liverpool midfielder.
“I’d have to say Steven Gerrard has been my biggest influence in my career so far... I watched him when I was younger and then to go and play and train with him every day was massive for me,” he said back in 2014.
When Gerrard retired as a player two years later, Henderson said: “I’m so incredibly lucky to have played with him, learnt from him and most importantly got to know him as a person... To have had the opportunity to get to know him and see how he conducts himself on and off the pitch has been priceless for me.”
Now Gerrard and Henderson could be about to hook up together at Rangers.
