Rangers are anxiously waiting to find out if they will receive a transfer jackpot due to the developments around former loan player Malik Tillman.

The 21-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder is PSV’s leading candidate to replace Xavi Simons, who left in the summer for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Eredivisie side are reportedly close to an agreement on a loan with an option to buy. If that were to be lifted, Rangers would stand to benefit to the tune of a seven-figure sum.

The American international was loaned to Rangers last season, with the Scots also having an option to buy. That option was cancelled by Bayern in exchange for a ten percent sell-through rate, according to The Daily Record . It has now become clear how much that could possibly earn the club.

Sky Deutschland reported on Sunday that PSV are coming close with Bayern Munich over an agreement to the transfer of Tillman.

The Eredivisie runners up from last season will pay around €1m to loan the playmaker this season, after which, they will have a purchase option that stands between €12-14m. It is unclear whether this option is mandatory or not.

The relevance to Rangers is in the purchase option. If PSV makes the switch permanent, Michael Beale’s side can expect a windfall of between €1.2-1.4m.

If PSV do not, however, sign Tillman on a permanent basis, Rangers will have nothing to do with the transfer: the loan fee will go entirely to Bayern.

Tillman, who has four caps for the USMNT, played on 43 occasions for the Gers last season, contributing 10 goals and four assists as they finished second in the Scottish Premiership to Celtic. He also featured in five of the club’s six Champions League matches, plus all four qualifying matches, catching the eye of PSV when he registered the decisive assist against them in Eindhoven.
