Paris Saint-Germain have issued Kylian Mbappe an ultimatum to make a decision on his immediate future, according to reports.

The 2018 World Cup winner informed PSG that he has no intention of triggering his contract extension, meaning that he will be a free agent next summer. Though he claims that he already told them this last year when he signed his deal, the recent public announcement has reportedly left PSG's Qatari decision-makers feeling betrayed.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi and company are set to take a tougher stance with regard to their star players following the Mbappe revelations. The idea that no player is bigger than the club will be enforced, and this means that the Frenchman could face the wrath of the club.

Despite his insistence that he will play for PSG next season, a final decision could be out of his hands, if recent reports are to be believed. According to PSG Community, a high-profile Qatari official met with Mbappe's entourage on Wednesday to issue a clear ultimatum.

PSG to sell Mbappe

The player's representatives were told in no uncertain terms that Mbappe has two choices: either he will extend his deal before pre-season training starts or he will not, in which case he will be sold this summer.

As Fabrizio Romano has insisted, PSG want to avoid losing Mbappe - for whom they paid €135 million in 2018 - for free next summer. Therefore, they will entertain offers now, but the question is: who can actually afford Mbappe?

The only realistic options appear to be Real Madrid and Saudi Arabia, though it is highly doubtful that PSG's Qatari owners would sell to a Saudi club (and that he would want to move there). This leaves Real Madrid as the only possible destination, and they do allegedly already have a budget of €200m upfront plus €50m in add-ons ready for Mbappe.

Yet Florentino Perez, who reportedly has good relations with Qatar, has stated that he won't move for the Frenchman this summer. If he stays true to his word, the Mbappe situation could reach an impasse.
