Atletico have already gathered information on the winger and spoken to Antony’s camp.

They are also interested in Alejandro Garnacho but realise that financially Antony is an easier deal to do.

Antony bidding war

Atletico are far from the only team interested in Antony and Football Espana says a bidding war for the player is erupting.

Villarreal are also big fans of the player and plan to open talks with Man Utd over a possible summer deal.

Real Betis would love to keep Antony but may not have the finances to do a deal.

Football Espana also reports that Juventus are interested in Antony but their interest is not as strong as Betis, Villarreal and Atletico’s.

The report adds that Man Utd have set an asking price of €40-50 million for the player.

Antony has resurrected his career in Spain after joining Real Betis on loan in January.

He has been one of the best players in La Liga, scoring eight goals and delivering five assists in all competitions.

He has played a crucial role in Betis' run to the Conference League final, delivering two goals and an assist in their semi-final win over Fiorentina.

Antony at Man Utd

Antony joined Man Utd from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for €100m and big things were expected of Erik ten Hag’s former pupil.

However, Antony has been an unmitigated disaster at Old Trafford. He bagged just four Premier League goals and two assists in his inaugural season and looked well short of the physical, mental and even technical levels required to play for such a big team.

Last season, Antony was even worse with just one Premier League goal and one assist.

Antony did not start a game this season in the Premier League or Europa League, playing just 83 minutes of league football off the bench for United before his loan move to Betis.

He had one goal and just 400 minutes across 14 games in all competitions this season.

Man Utd will sell Antony permanently this summer.
