Real Madrid are understood to have reached a verbal agreement with Leipzig over a deal for Diomande, with the move likely to be wrapped up in the coming days for an anticipated fee of €120 million.

Diomande had given his priority to join PSG earlier this month but they failed to agree a fee with Leipzig, prompting the 19-year-old to commit to Real Madrid and generating a strong response from the Ligue 1 side.

"Paris Saint-Germain officially withdrew its interest this evening and ended all negotiations concerning Yan Diomandé,” a statement via Sky Sports read.

“The transfer fee requested, as well as the salary demands, were completely disproportionate and likely to unbalance the market. PSG will not deviate from its principles of rigorous financial management and squad balance. "

"As the reigning two-time European champions and the most decorated club in recent years, Paris Saint-Germain will not be drawn into the inflated transfer market and manoeuvres of certain intermediaries. The Club will calmly and confidently pursue its strategy in the transfer market.”

PSG ‘deterred’ by Diomande’s entourage as Real Madrid transfer causes storm

Diomande was understood to be PSG’s top transfer target for the summer and it appeared they had won the race for the winger’s signature after he rejected interest from teams such as Liverpool in order to prioritise a move to Paris.

However, PSG claim they pulled out of negotiations due to Leipzig’s demands, while Footmercato also state that the club were ‘deterred by the attitude of the player’s entourage’ due to their demands regularly changing.

Diomande had agreed a contract until 2031 with the Parisians but terms have reportedly now been struck with Real Madrid and a deal is expected to be finalised in the coming days.

The move could have significant implications on both Vinicius Junior’s future at Real Madrd as well as PSG’s decision to sell Bradley Barcola after confirmation that the 23-year-old would not be renewing his contract at the club.
