Real Madrid put Vini Jr up for sale: World-record deal set up
Real Madrid have taken decisive action over their dispute with Vinicius Junior, putting the Brazil international up for sale, according to bombshell reports in the Spanish media.
Xabi Alonso’s side have long been in dispute with Vini Jr over his new contract.
The 25-year-old has been pushing for a deal that is worth the same as Kylian Mbappe’s but the Bernabeu club have pushed back against this.
As revealed by the Transfers Podcast in March, Real Madrid have been growing increasingly frustrated at their player for attempting to leverage a bigger salary from them by threatening to leave for the Saudi Pro League, and now Mundo Deportivo says they have simply had enough.
President Florentino Perez has put Vini Jr up for sale, despite the attacker having two years left to run on his contract.
What does Vini Jr want from Real Madrid?
Vinicius Junior’s wage is officially tied to that of Mbappe, the Barcelona-based source claims. Both players are paid €15 million per year.
The France star, though, is entitled to a further €8m. He receives this as part of his €40m net signing bonus after arriving from PSG on a free transfer last summer, putting him substantially ahead of his team-mate when it comes to earnings.
While Vini Jr wants that figure matched, Real Madrid are not considering such an offer following a season in which he failed to show his best form, scoring only 22 goals.
Saudi bid incoming?
Interest is likely to come from the Saudi Pro League, where Al-Ahli have been linked with a record-shattering €350m move for the player.
Vini Jr, meanwhile, is said to have been offered a five-year deal by the big-spending league worth €1 billion.
Rumours linking the South American to Saudi have been persistent over the course of recent months and it is now up to Saudi to act upon them.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, appear braced to lose Vini Jr, having already lined up several Premier League stars to replace him.
