OFFICIAL: Hansi Flick signs Barcelona contract extension

Hansi Flick has signed a new Barcelona contract that is set to keep him in Catalunya until 2027.
The 60-year-old has proved to be a brilliant hire for the Blaugrana. Flick was desperate for the Barcelona job when it became clear that Xavi would be dismissed last season, and he has certainly made the most of it.

Since his appointment last summer, Flick has delivered almost non-stop success. The only blemish on an otherwise spotless season has been Barcelona's exit from the Champions League at the semi-final stage in a stunning tie with Inter.
Flick's tactics, despite being very risky, have worked a charm, and they have unshackled Barcelona's hugely talented attack. The Catalans have scored a scarcely believable 171 goals in the 59 games Flick has so far taken charge of.
Out of these 59 games, they have won 43, drawn seven and lost nine. More importantly, Flick has won a domestic treble in his first season at the helm, claiming the Supercopa, Copa del Rey and LaLiga crowns this term.
Flick extends Barcelona contract
Barcelona have now announced that Flick has officially extended his contract by a year. His deal originally ran until 2026, but he has now agreed fresh terms until June 2027.
Flick previously stated that he is not keen on lengthy extensions as he wants to take things season by season, hence the agreement only adds a further season to his existing deal.

"I'm not a coach who wants to sign a three-year contract and secure my future, I'm not that kind of coach," Flick said last month. "I like working for the best club in the world, and my mentality is to take it year by year."
Now that the extension for Flick is under wraps, Barcelona are expected to formally complete a new contract for star winger Raphinha. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano announced on Tuesday that the Brazilian has agreed to commit his future to the club until 2028.
