Real Madrid have received positive news in their pursuit of Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, with Kylian Mbappe already looking likely to follow Jude Bellingham to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 'Galactico' term emerged in the early 2000s during Florentino Perez's first spell as Real president, when he collected the likes of Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham in the Spanish capital.

Whilst buying players at the peak of their careers is no longer Madrid's modus operandi, there is little question that Real's transfer targets are going all the way to the top, with Mbappe already there at the tender age of 24.

Real beat Liverpool to the €103 million acquisition of Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer, and Mbappe is angling to join them on a free transfer next summer, insisting that he wants to play for PSG this season without discussing a contract extension.

Davies could now complete the set, the Canadian left-back also at an impasse regarding his contract in Munich.

Davies contract talks 'at a standstill'

"Contract talks between Bayern and Alphonso Davies remain at a standstill," reports SportBild's Tobi Altschäffl. "The Canadian wants to stay at Bayern this summer and make a decision during next season.

"Real Madrid are interested. A departure next summer is possible if no agreement with Bayern is reached."

Real have a track record of getting to players first before agreeing terms with their clubs, ensuring the player's desire to pull on the white jersey before a drawn-out negotiation, and Davies could follow Mbappe's lead.

He spoke recently about how he was signed as a winger, 'a successor to Arjen Robben,' but has effectively played out of position for three seasons, and Bayern have already signed a potential replacement in Bellingham's former Dortmund teammate Raphael Guerreiro.

Hasan Salihamidzic has also been sacked as Bayern sporting director, and it was he who negotiated with Davies' entourage in the past.

Nothing is done yet regarding Davies, but it appears the stars are beginning to align for the next generation of Galacticos.
