Dani Olmo: I want to return to Barcelona

RB Leipzig forward Dani Olmo has spoken of his desire to return to Barcelona one day having played there as a youngster when he was growing up.

Olmo took an unconventional route to the top having left Barcelona for Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia, before earning a move to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga where he has done well.

He found his way to the Spanish national team set up under Luis Enrique in recent times and has been linked with a move away from Leipzig as well.

However, he has now spoken of his desire to return to Barcelona and how much he adores the city and country despite being away for so long.

Olmo eyeing Barcelona return

Speaking to Bild on his future plans, Olmo said: “I played there for six years when I was young. It will always be a home for me. A lot of my friends from the national team play there.”

”I want to go back sometime, it will be great. Spain is my country, my league. My family and friends live there. But I’m not only tied to Spain. The most important thing for me is to play in a club where I feel loved and important.”

Olmo has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea as they look for an alternative to Mykhaylo Mudryk, who is set to join Arsenal in a few days after negotiations between the Gunners and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Other than that, other Premier League clubs have also been linked with a move for the player, but nothing concrete has come of it and he is going to continue at Leipzig until at least the summer.

Olmo was at Barcelona between 2007 and 2014 before being let go to Dinamo Zagreb that year where he immediately made a name for himself.

He has always spoken about his admiration for Barcelona in the past having been born and raised there and a move back wouldn’t be a shock.
