Barcelona have had a busy transfer window thus far, and Jules Kounde is soon going to be the next one to join the club after weeks of negotiations between the Catalans and Sevilla.

In addition to Kounde, Barcelona signed Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, Raphinha from Leeds United and Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen on free transfers following the expiry of their contracts.

All of their new signings have been training and playing with Barcelona, going away to the United States for the club’s pre-season tour.

When they come back to Spain, though, Barcelona have to focus on letting players go to balance their books and streamline the squad ahead of the new season.

Barcelona eager to sell players

The club have already let go of some players, including some on loan to ease their wage bill, such as Rey Manaj, Moussa Wague, Francisco Trincao and Clement Lenglet, but want to get more done.

According to reports in Spain, the club are now prioritizing letting players go rather than incomings, as Xavi has already made it clear they won’t be a part of the first-team set-up in the coming season.

There are seven players on the list to let go, five of which haven’t travelled to the US for pre-season: Riqui Puig, Martin Braithwaite, Neto, Samuel Umtiti and Oscar Mingueza.

Additionally, the two players that have travelled are Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay, both of whom have already played matches while on tour.

Mingueza is already attracting interest from clubs across Europe, while Neto could soon move to Fulham and the other three are finding it hard to attract interest.

De Jong has already been chased by Manchester United and there is an agreement between the two clubs, but they are waiting on the players’ deferred wages to be sorted.

As for Depay, there has reportedly been interest from Tottenham, although no offer has been made for him and Barcelona are demanding €20 million for his services.

It is vital for Barcelona to let go of players, either on a permanent basis or on loan, to ease their wage bill and allow them to register players to play in La Liga in the upcoming season.
