Barcelona need to raise €500m imminently or the future of the club could be at risk, claims vice president Eduard Romeu.

The financial crisis at the Spanish giants is showing no signs of easing up, with the €1.3 Billion debt the club is currently in making business extremely difficult.

The club have been linked with a host of new players but are unable to register new signings until salaries have been brought under control, and money has been raised in order to take things forward.

Initiatives such as allowing fans to play on the Camp Nou turf and even get married there have been introduced in a desperate attempt to raise funds.

And both Romeu and president Joan Laporta are desperately attempting to raise funds to offset the debt crisis. They are attempting to formulate economic levels, one of which included selling off a % of future TV revenue in exchange for a lump payment just now.

But speaking to Barcelona members, Romeu was clear as to how stark the situation is.

He said: "[We have] negative funds of €500m. Some €150m losses could be added to this course if we did nothing. I already said it one day, if someone wants to make me a man, give me €500m. It is what we need to save Barca.

"Money is needed to carry out some things. Some uncomfortable situations cannot be negotiated if you do not have money to settle the situation. Also, if you need to reinforce the team because you have not achieved the objectives you had, you need money.

'Barcelona is like trying to resurrect a dead man'

Romeu went onto say that the situation previously inherited was in the past, and he wanted to focus on how to get out of it, but added that the the situation is extremely dire.

He added: "We are trying to resurrect a dead man and we are lucky that the club has potential and a brand that we have known how to value, plus real estate assets.

If the owners of the club do not want to save the situation by putting up money, they must allow us to use this heritage and this value to be able to resurrect it.

"After three years in a row with losses, the situation must be reversed. It is important to convey to the market that when we say something, we do it. It will give us credibility for future projections."
