Real Madrid have enjoyed an excellent 2021/22 campaign, winning the Spanish Super Cup and LaLiga Santander and reaching the Champions League final. However, they won’t be resting on their laurels, as Los Blancos are planning to make several reinforcements this summer.

According to Defensa Central, Florentino Perez wants the club to strengthen in each of their four positions groups. Here, then, comes a look at how Real Madrid plan to upgrade at goalkeeper, defence, midfield and attack.

Real Madrid might need to replace Lunin

Although Andriy Lunin has had more opportunities towards the end of the season, after Real Madrid wrapped up the league title early, the Ukrainian knows that there won’t be many minutes available when he has Thibaut Courtois in front of him. The goalkeeper could, therefore, decide to leave in the summer, which would leave the Spanish champions needing a replacement. They may turn to the market to find a shot-stopper willing to sit on the bench, or could rely on the various young goalkeepers the have, such as Luis López, Toni Fuidias or Diego Piñeiro.

Rudiger is coming to add an option in defence

In defence, Real Madrid have already agreed a deal to bring Antonio Rudiger to the club on a free transfer. His arrival should see David Alaba play fewer minutes at centre-back and more at left-back, given that Marcelo is expected to leave.

Tchouameni is the dream for midfield

Real Madrid’s midfield is going through a transition, with Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga showing that they do have what it takes to eventually replace Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. Even still, Los Blancos are also keen to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco. They know it’ll be expensive and they’d ideally like to make a push to sign him in 2023, but they are prepared to act now if rival clubs try to acquire the 22-year-old this window.

Mbappe should finally wear the Real Madrid shirt

In attack, there is going to be one reinforcement and it’s a Galactico one, with Kylian Mbappe finally expected to join the club. He should land in Madrid on a free transfer, once his PSG contract expires, making Spain’s best attack even more dangerous.
