Real Madrid's hopes of striking a deal for Kylian Mbappe have been dealt a blow after the player revealed a dream to win the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG have been sweating over Mbappe's future for a while now as he is still on his first contract with the club which was signed in 2018.

His deal runs out in the summer of 2022 meaning that he will be available to speak to other clubs about a free transfer as early as this January.

As the French giants signed Mbappe for €145 million, they are now under pressure to recoup a transfer fee this summer rather than allowing him to leave for free.

They still remain hopeful of convincing the World Cup winner to sign an extended contract to remain in Paris, however.

Mbappe is a Real Madrid fan though and idolised Cristiano Ronaldo as a youngster, wanting to emulate his exploits at Santiago Bernabeu at some point in his career.

Los Blancos, too, are desperate to make Mbappe their latest Galactico even if they are not quite in a position financially to do so currently.

Real Madrid didn't spend a penny on transfer fees last summer and haven't so far a year later, but still need to make some money from player exits if they are to have any hoping of signing Mbappe, who would command near the €145m PSG paid despite his short contract.

The Spanish side may also want to look at other targets for now as Mbappe confessed this week that he wants to win the Champions League with PSG.

In a joint interview with team-mate Neymar for PSG's official club magazine, Mbappe and the Brazilian had a to and fro conversation about their career goals.

What did Neymar and Mbappe say?

The journalist who conducted the interview asks Mbappe to ask Neymar a question of his choice.

The Frenchman then asked:

"I'm not very good as a journalist. What would I ask Neymar? What is your [Neymar[ big dream for you after everything you've achieved?"

To which Neymar replied:

"My biggest dream with PSG is to win the Champions League and with Brazil to win the World Cup. And for you, Kylian, is it to win the Champions League, right?"

"Why not another World Cup," replied Mbappe.

When then asked by Neymar what his next dream is after winning the World Cup, Mbappe said:

"My biggest dream is to win the Champions League with PSG, that would be fantastic. But winning another World Cup would be very good too."

PSG have been building a formidable squad this summer as in addition to the talent they already have in Paris; Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Danilo Pereira, Achraf Hakimi and Georginio Wijnaldum have been signed.
