Arsenal have identified Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke as their top priority for January, according to reports.

The Gunners are looking to secure the purchase of a striker next year. Their quest to sign number one target, Ivan Toney, may be put on hold as the Gunners anticipate potential difficulties in buying him in the winter.

Now the Daily Star reports that Arsenal are monitoring Solanke following his spellbinding form recently for the Cherries. The North London club are hopeful of finding another output of goals as they look to build on their title charge this season.

Arsenal secured Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City in a £45 million deal last summer but, despite scoring 11 goals last season, a majority of their attacking threat came via Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Odegaard.

Jesus has just two goals to his name this campaign, leading Arsenal to look elsewhere.

Indeed, Brentford's Toney is the primary target but Arsenal are reluctant to overpay for him, while there may be stiff competition from Chelsea and Tottenham.

Supposedly if Toney does not join Arsenal, it’s thought that former Liverpool player Solanke will be next on the list.

Arteta an admirer of Solanke

The report states that Mikel Arteta is impressed with how the forward has performed so far this term, believing him to be hard-working a prolific.

Solanke has scored eight goals in the season so far, being one of the most in-form players in the league right now.

The Gunners’ ambition of winning the title this season has been boosted following Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United and Manchester City finishing 2-2 with Crystal Palace.

Arsenal are top of the Premier League table, having played 17 games and earning 39 points. Liverpool are just one place behind by a single point.
