Chelsea are looking to sell three unwanted players in January, according to the Daily Express.

Mauricio Pochettino is keen to trim his bloated squad of fringe squad players.

The first player on the list to be sold is defender Trevoh Chalobah.

The centre back has not played a single minute this season and has been transfer listed.

He was wanted by both Bayern Munich and Inter Milan this past summer but ended up staying put at Stamford Bridge. Bayern remain interested in January as former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is a fan.

The second player Chelsea plan to offload in January is Malang Sarr.

The ex-Nice defender was not even named in Chelsea’s Premier League squad this season and has made just eight league appearances since joining in 2020.

The third player Chelsea are considering selling is Marc Cucurella.

Cucurella became the most expensive player in his position after joining Chelsea in the summer of 2022, surpassing Man City's Benjamin Mendy.

Cucurella joined Chelsea in a move that will cost a total of £62 million, four times the £15.4m Brighton paid to bring him to the Amex Stadium on deadline day less than 12 months earlier.

However, Cucurella endured a disastrous first season at the club.

He has improved a bit this season, starting four games, but Chelsea are still keen to sell given the presence of Levi Colwill, Ian Maatsen and Ben Chilwell at left back.

Chelsea also need to recoup some money in January as they plan to make another big splash in the transfer market, with a number nine their priority.
