Mauricio Pochettino’s imminent arrival as Chelsea manager will not save the club from losing Mason Mount this summer.

That is according to The Sun, who report that Pochettino’s arrival has come too late to rescue negotiations with Mount, who is now expected to complete a summer transfer to Liverpool.

Mount to leave Chelsea

Mount’s contract at Chelsea expires at the end of next season and talks over a renewal have made no headway for over a year.

It now seems increasingly likely that Mount will leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

It is widely understood that Chelsea will sell Mount this summer if a new contract isn’t signed, to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2024.

Mount has been a key player for Chelsea in recent seasons but, like most of his teammates, has endured a miserable 2022-23 campaign.

He has managed just three goals and four assists in all competitions as Chelsea have performed woefully.

The Blues are 11th in the Premier League and out of all cup competitions. This is despite spending a world record amount of money on new players this season.

They are currently on their third manager of the campaign in interim coach Frank Lampard after the sackings of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.
