Marcus Rashford has slammed suggestions that he is looking to become the Premier League’s highest-paid player.

A report in the Daily Star details that Rashford is hoping for a deal worth more than £500,000-a-week as the England international, who will turn 26 in October, will enter the final year of his current contract.

The trouble is that Man Utd don’t know where they will be financially by the end of the season. There is the possible signing of Harry Kane from Tottenham which could also impact how much United are willing to offer the striker, while De Gea and Luke Shaw are also in line to be given new deals, too.

In any case, Rashford spoke out against the report about demanding a huge wage online, tweeting: “Just before this one starts to do the rounds! It's complete nonsense. The club and make self have been respectful to one another, and that's how it will remain. My focus is purely on finishing as well as possible in the league and winning trophies.”

Rashford bites back

He replied in response to an aggregation and the tweet has gone viral.

Rashford has netted 27 goals in all competitions this season and managed to win back his place in the England squad.

The attacker - who is Man Utd’s best attacker so far this season - is being mooted as the possible player of the season for his terrific form, but there is no news yet over when he will put pen to paper over a new deal at Old Trafford, though it’s thought that both sides want it to happen.

Rashford had reportedly turned down a proposal from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and is fully intent on continuing at his boyhood club for the foreseeable.
