'Messi will play the next World Cup' - Mac Allister makes incredible promise to Leo

Alexis Mac Allister stated that he believes Lionel Messi will feature at the next World Cup.

The next tournament will take place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States in 2026 - by which point Messi will be pushing 40 years old.

But the Brighton midfielder, speaking live on TyC Sports, said he can foresee the Paris Saint-Germain star playing in the competition once more.

The 24-year-old said: "Obviously I see Messi in the next World Cup. I have no doubt that at 40 or 45 he will continue to be the best in the world. He is very professional, you can see it. He is in perfect physical condition to continue playing.

"He has everything in his head - beyond the physical, he has everything in his head. We don't have any problem running for him.”

Mac Allister and Messi linked up in Qatar and helped Argentina win their third World Cup, beating France in the final on penalties to seal the trophy.

It comes after the news that the Premier League ace is looking for a move away from Brighton this summer.

We heard earlier this week that Carlos Mac Allister, his father who also represents him as an agent, watched over Liverpool’s 5-2 defeat to Los Blancos in the round of 16 first-leg tie earlier this month as a club guest, amid speculation linking the player to the club for a transfer.

Mac Allister is contracted to Brighton until 2025 - with an option of another year. And he has publicly expressed that he is very much focusing on his time at the Amex and this season, with the future not a concern for him.

“At the moment I’m enjoying my present at Brighton and I’m not thinking about the future," he said.

“But I would like my next team to be in the Premier League.”
