Chelsea have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign Raheem Sterlin for a fee that could eventually reach €65 million.

The 27-year-old has been told he can leave the Etihad after entering the final year of his contract and Thomas Tuchel’s side have won the race for the England international.

The move for Sterling has now all been agreed, according to multiple sources, and should be announced in the coming days.

The Blues have been desperate for firepower after Romelu Lukaku joined Inter on loan and Sterling was considered an obvious choice due to his proven goalscoring record as well as his versatility across the front line.

How much will Sterling cost Chelsea?

Chelsea and City have agreed terms on a deal worth an initial £45 million plus an additional £10m in add-ons, according to Fabrizio Romano. That comes to £55m (or €65m) in total if all add-ons are met.

Personal terms have also been agreed, with Sterling set to earn £15.6m/€18.4m a year over four seasons.

With the arrival of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez at City this summer, Sterling was keen to search for more regular first team football elsewhere ahead of the World Cup in December.

Arsenal and Tottenham had also enquired about Sterling but he was keen to still compete in the Champions League and for regular trophies.

The arrival of Sterling at Stamford Bridge could accelerate the departure of Hakim Ziyech, who is being chased by Milan, while Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic are also wanted by a number of clubs.

Sterling could end up featuring up front for Chelsea as Tuchel has often opted to play a false-nine with Kai Havertz, due to the struggles for form with Lukaku.
