When does the contract of every Arsenal player expire?

Arsenal were Europe’s biggest spenders in the 2021 summer transfer market, splashing out a whopping £142.5 million (€166m) on a host of new players.

The Gunners signed Ben White from Brighton for £50m, Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht for £16m, Nuno Tavares for £7m, back-up goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for £25m, Martin Odegaard for £32m and Takehiro Tomiyasu for £16.5m on deadline day.

Despite all these transfers, there are set to be many more changes in the playing personnel between 2021 and 2022.

This has been confirmed by both manager Mikel Arteta and transfer chief Edu, who admit that Arsenal are at the beginning of a rebuild that will take time to complete.

A quick look at when the contracts of every Arsenal player expires suggests that many players will be leaving before the start of the 2022-23 season.

There are six first-team squad players who see their contracts expire in the summer of 2022.

These are goalkeeper Bernd Leno, defenders Sead Kolasinac and Calum Chambers, midfielder Mohamed Elneny, and attackers Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah.

All of these players Arsenal tried to move on in the 2021-22 pre-season and, as it stands, there is nothing to suggest that any of these will be handed contract renewals.

Also noteworthy is that Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang see their deals expire in 2023.

This means that unless Arsenal sell them next summer, they will risk losing them for nothing the following year.

Maitland-Niles publicly pleaded to be allowed to leave Arsenal towards the end of the summer 2021 transfer window, while the Gunners would like to sell Aubameyang due to his high salary and advancing years.
