Amad Diallo, the 18-year-old sensation signed by Manchester United from Atalanta in January, has been fined by the Italian FA (FIGC) for the use of false documents.

Diallo has been ordered to pay a little over £42,000 with regards the documents, which allowed him to enter Italy and sign for Boca Barco in 2015 and then Atalanta.

The FIGC states that two individuals, named as Hamed Mamadou Traore and Marina Edwige Carine Teher, impersonated the player’s parents and requested reunification based on “false certificates to attest to the family relationship”.

Diallo would have been unable to sign for either of the Italian clubs if he did not have this documentation.

His 20-year-old brother, Hamed Junior Traore, who is on loan at Sassuolo from Empoli, has similarly been fined.

When will Amad Diallo make his Man Utd debut?

It is not thought that this charge will have a bearing on Diallo’s future at Man Utd, where he has made a highly impressive start with the Under-23 side. Indeed, The Times reports the club sought assurances over these charges before signing him.

Diallo, who made his Champions League debut for Atalanta earlier this season, has scored three and assisted three in the two matches he has played for the young Red Devils.

It is still unclear when Diallo will feature for Man Utd’s first team, although manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that it could be in the coming weeks.

“You see he has ability and he’s linking up well,” the Norwegian said.

“He doesn’t really have a relationship with any of these boys here, he came to Liverpool and did well and the same [in last Friday’s 6-4 win against Blackburn].

“He’s training with the first team and doing well and he’s still new to England and England’s style of football so it’s going to take time and like all young players you have to be patient with them. He’s gaining more confidence as the days go on.”

With Man Utd embroiled in a fight for the Premier League title, the Europa League perhaps marks Diallo’s best chance of featuring, with a last-32 tie against Real Sociedad to be played on 18th February and 25th February.
