Aurelien Tchouameni has found a regular starting spot hard to come by at Real Madrid, but his comments on rejecting Liverpool make it hard to see him move on this summer.

The Frenchman has been the subject of links away from the Santiago Bernabeu and even Rio Ferdinand recently called on Manchester United to sign the 23-year-old. That is because it has been tough for him to nail down a starting gig in Carlo Ancelotti's side.

With elder statesmen Toni Kroos and Luka Modric still around and Jude Bellingham joining in a €103 million deal, Tchouameni's future has been a hotly debated topic seeing as though it will be even harder for him to get into the eleven next season.

It is, however, unlikely that the €80m man, formerly of Monaco, will leave the Spanish capital - especially if his previous comments are anything to go by.

"I didn't hesitate"

Speaking after his transfer from France to Madrid - that saw him reject the advances of Liverpool in the process - the midfielder said: "As soon as Real Madrid arrived on the scene, I did not hesitate."

"I want to leave a mark on football," he continued, "and the best club for this is Real Madrid. It's the best decision for me. When Madrid called, I didn't hesitate and I talked about it with my family..."

Liverpool stopped being an option at that point, he revealed: "I wrote to my agent and told him: do everything possible to take me there, please."

It would have been interesting to see if the Reds would have had such a disappointing season as they ended up having had Los Blancos not entered the fray. With Tchouameni in midfield, the dire need for a rebuild would perhaps not have been as strong this summer.
