'Here We Go'! Fabrizio Romano CONFIRMS €90m Liverpool signing
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool will today complete the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
Romano confirmed late on Saturday night that a deal was all but done between Liverpool and Frankfurt for the attacker.
He followed that up with a 'Here We Go' announcement on Sunday morning.
The Italian journalist says a deal has been done worth €90 million with potentially €5m in add-ons.
Ekitike has agreed a six-year contract to join Liverpool.
Ekitike to join Liverpool
David Ornstein reported earlier on Saturday that Liverpool had reached 'the outline of an agreement' to sign Ekitike.
Nicolo Schira also reports on Sunday that the deal is all done between the parties. Schira says the transfer will be worth €94m in total.
The Reds have been keen to add a prolific No.9 to their lineup this summer.
Darwin Nunez has flattered to deceive since his arrival in 2022, and the heartbreaking passing of Diogo Jota has given the need for a new forward a tragic urgency.
Liverpool initially planned to sell Nunez before dipping into the market for a striker - given that they have already spent north of €200 million on new recruits this summer - but this week the decision was made to act now.
The Reds kicked off the week with an approach for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, but the Magpies maintained their not-for-sale stance. While Liverpool remain attentive to the Swede's situation, they have pivoted to Hugo Ekitike.
The Anfield club had an opening bid for the Frenchman rejected earlier this week, and they returned with an improved bid that will now get the deal over the line.
