Arsenal Transfer News Today: Gyokeres shock as Romano confirms Osimhen truth
All the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip from Arsenal, with Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi emerging as targets for Barcelona and Real Madrid, while there’s more on Victor Osimhen.
Gyokeres in shock Barcelona link
Barcelona have been linked with a shock move for Viktor Gyokeres, who is seen by those at Camp Nou as a like-for-like replacement for Ferran Torres.
Having sold Torres to PSG after the departure of Robert Lewandowski as a free agent, Barca do not have centre-forward on their books and are ready to launch a bid for Gyokeres, according to El Chiringuito.
The Catalans are likely to be swiftly dismissed by the Premier League champions, who have no interest in selling the Swede, FootballTransfers understands.
Osimhen to Arsenal: Romano drops latest news
Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent days, but Fabrizio Romano has played down the prospect of any imminent deal for the Nigeria international striker, who currently play with Galatasaray.
Romano told his YouTube channel: “Nothing really concrete is happening at this stage between Arsenal and Galatasaray. No negotiations, no bid, no conversations from what I heard. At the moment, it's a quiet topic.
“Galatasaray sources say that the understanding is that the club absolutely want to keep Victor Osimhen. Galatasaray will fight in every way, even if they receive proposals, to keep Victor Osimhen.”
FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal are not interested in the striker, with any noise surrounding him liable to be agent talk.
Serie A interest in Gabriel Jesus and Nwaneri
Napoli continue to push to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal in a move that could free up a slot in Arteta’s Premier League squad, Calciomercato reports.
The Brazilian was not involved in the squad for the Community Shield victory over Manchester City, missing out on the game along with Ethan Nwaneri.
A loan is not an option given his contract expires in 2027, so Napoli need to raise funds to buy Jesus outright, which they plan to do by selling one of their excess attackers.
AC Milan, meanwhile, are eager to push for Nwaneri once again.
Real Madrid back in for Martin Zubimendi
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has given the green light for his side to move for Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi just a year after he joined the Gunners.
Bruno Guimaraes’ arrival at the Emirates Stadium has started rumours over the Spaniard’s future, with the former Real Sociedad star having been linked with a switch to Chelsea, having previously admitted Xabi Alonso is his ‘idol’.
TeamTalk reports that contact has already been made with the midfielder, who is open to the move, and the outcome will depend on whether Real Madrid are willing to match the Gunners’ asking price for the player.
Barcola looks increasingly likely to leave PSG
Arsenal may trail Liverpool when it comes to interest in PSG winger Bradley Barcola, but manager Mikel Arteta will certainly have taken note that the France star was left out of the 1-0 French Super Cup loss to Lens on Sunday. Barcola did not even appear on the bench in that game.
It offers the strongest suggestion yet that the former Lyon man will be on the move, although head coach Luis Enrique has refused to discuss the prospect of a deal.
“I'll talk about the transfer window when it's closed. Not before and not after,” he said. “Since it's almost over, I'll talk about everything.”
