OFFICIAL: Man City complete the signing of Iliman Ndiaye for €75.8m

Manchester City have completed the signing of Senegal international Iliman Ndiaye from Everton on a five-year deal.

The 26-year-old moves to the Etihad Stadium after the Cityzens agreed a package worth €75.8million (£65m) including add-ons with Everton.

Ndiaye is one of nine summer signings by Enzo Maresca, following the arrivals of Enzo Fernandez, Elliot Anderson, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Allan Elias and Geronimo Rulli.

Man City have also signed youngsters Mathys Detourbet, Jeremy Monga and Pierce Charles in Maresca’s first transfer window since replacing Pep Guardiola as head coach.

The 10-time league champions have moved to sign Ndiaye following the departures of Savio and Omar Marmoush to Tottenham Hotspur.

Keen to test himself at the highest level, Ndiaye - who faced rejection early in his career before making his professional debut in the seventh tier with Hyde United in 2020 - says he has "worked my whole life for an opportunity like this" after joining City.

“City are one of the best clubs in the world and I’ve seen them win everything as I’ve grown up," Ndiaye told City's official club website.

“To be able to write my own chapter in a story that special is the chance of a lifetime and I’m determined to grab it with both hands. It’s not always been easy in my career, but I always had the belief that I could play for a team challenging for the biggest prizes and now I’m here. It feels so good.

“I love to play with the ball on the floor in an attacking team that wants to score as many goals as possible. That’s why I know this is the perfect fit. City fans can rest assured that I will give my all to bring more success to this incredible club.”

Ndiaye has joined on a hectic day for City, who have also signed Fernandez from Chelsea for a joint-British record fee of €145.7m (£125m).

Ndiaye became firm fan favourite with Everton fans

Ndiaye has developed a reputation as one of the most entertaining players in the Premier League since joining Everton from Marseille for a reported €17.5m (£15m) in July 2024.

A two-footed dribbler who can play in multiple positions in attack, Ndiaye registered 17 goals and four assists in 74 appearances for the Toffees.

He made history with Everton by scoring the last two goals in the final men’s fixture to be played at Goodison Park against Southampton in May 2025.

Ndiaye also holds the honour of scoring the first competitive goal at Hill Dickinson Stadium, having netted against Brighton and Hove Albion in August 2025.

However, there had been speculation over his future after The Athletic's Patrick Boyland reported he turned down multiple contract offers from Everton.

Ndiaye was believed to have wanted a release clause to be inserted in a prospective new deal - a demand that was rejected by David Moyes’ side.

Everton fans furious over timing of Ndiaye exit

The timing of his departure has caused anger among Everton supporters, amid growing concerns of the club’s recruitment setup.

Everton do not have a sporting director, with recruitment currently handled by several people including Angus Kinnear (CEO), Nick Cox (technical director), James Smith (scouting and recruitment), Nick Hammond (player trading), Chris Howarth (analytics) and manager Moyes.

The Merseysiders chased several right-backs earlier in the summer, including Strasbourg’s Guela Doue, West Ham United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Atalanta's Raoul Bellanova, only to baulk at their supposed asking prices.

Yet Everton have now sold their best attacker on deadline day and missed out on signing a striker in Folarin Balogun, who was set to join from Monaco before having a change of heart.

After Balogun failed his medical, Everton and Monaco successfully renegotiated the terms of a €46.7m (£40m) deal but the forward reneged on signing a contract.

The departure of Ndiaye also comes after the Everton board hastily abandoned selling academy star Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest following a backlash from fans who attended Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.

And the sale has occurred exactly two weeks after Everton chief Kinnear told BBC Sport the club wanted to keep hold of prized asset Ndiaye.

“Our vision is very much that our best players like Ndiaye are retained, play at the club and help us achieve what we all want to achieve,” said Kinnear.
