Transfer Deadline Day is here, with clubs across Europe racing to complete their final deals before the window slams shut. There will be blockbuster moves and frantic twists and turns on what is one of the most exciting days on the football calendar.
For most clubs, this is the final opportunity to finalise their squads before January.
Millions of euros will trade hands today, with clubs across the world cashing in on their talent while others fight to retain it.
Deals that can make-or-break a season will be made and there will be no shortage of drama as teams fight for the signatures of some of the best players in the world.

When is the transfer deadline?
In the Premier League, clubs have until 11pm to complete their deals, though across Europe the time varies.
In England, if clubs are racing to conclude a transfer, they can hand in a deal sheet that confirms an agreement for a transfer is in place. This gives them another two hours beyond the deadline to complete the administration of certain deals. It can only be used after 9pm on Deadline Day and needs to arrive at the Premier League fully completed by 11pm. Clubs then have another two hours to submit their full paperwork.

Which huge transfers could happen on Deadline Day?
There are a number of huge moves to keep an eye on this Deadline Day.
Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez is potentially the biggest of these. The Argentina international striker is unhappy at his current club, but with a move to Barcelona having been blocked, there is still the possibility he goes to Arsenal in a blockbuster deal.
This would be one of the biggest transfers ever, as well as the most expensive Deadline Day move in history, which is currently Alexander Isak's €145m switch from Newcastle United to Liverpool in 2025.
Another contender to break the current record is Enzo Fernandez. The Chelsea midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for several months, but while the prospect of his dream move to Real Madrid has faded, Manchester City carry a heavy interest in him.
Fernandez’s move could be dependent on Chelsea finding a replacement, with Manu Kone of Roma and Lamine Camara of Monaco strong contenders to fill that role.
Elsewhere, Senegal international winger Iliman Ndiaye looks primed to leave Everton and could also join City in a deal worth in the region of €76m.
While these are the biggest likely moves of the day, many more deals will be conducted – some with breakneck speed.
Can any deals be done outside the transfer window?
There are a few select circumstances in which players can join clubs outside the transfer window.
For example, free agents will still be eligible to join new clubs, provided they were out of contract by the transfer deadline. For this reason, some players are likely to be released by mutual consent on Deadline Day, though this typically applies to players totally out of favour.
Some local associations also allow loan moves within the same association. In France, clubs are allowed one ‘joker’ signing from another French club.
It should also be pointed out that players can join clubs where the transfer window remains open.
In Turkey and Portugal, 4 September represents the deadline, while in the Saudi Pro League it is 12 October.
When is the next transfer window?
The next Premier League transfer window opens on 1 January, which is also the case for the Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
La Liga and Serie A have a window that opens on 2 January.
All these leagues shut their winter transfer window on 1 February, with the exception of Spain, which runs until 2 February.
