OFFICIAL: Man City confirm record signing of Elliot Anderson
Manchester City have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Elliot Anderson this summer in a club record transfer.
City and Forest had been locked in talks for a number of weeks after Anderson had given his priority to joining the Premier League runners up and a deal worth £116 million (€135.4m.)
Anderson has completed a medical in Kansas, where he is currently on duty with England at the 2026 World Cup, and City have announced that the deal will be finalised upon his return after the tournament.
Forest had been holding out for a British transfer record and initial reports had suggested that they would receive more than the €145m spent by Liverpool on Alexander Isak last summer.
However, the deal has been confirmed to be a fixed fee with no add-ons, surpassing the €117m City spent on Jack Grealish in 2021 which was previously their record transfer.
Anderson has now penned a five-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, and is believed to be earning a salary that could eclipse €300,000-per-week if all bonuses are met.
Anderson completes record City transfer after monumental rise to stardom
Anderson has been a standout performer for Forest since joining the club from Newcastle for €41m in 2024, although the deal worked out significantly cheaper due to goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos being sent the other way for €23m.
The 23-year-old has developed into one of the most coveted midfielders in the Premier League, with Manchester United also having pushed hard for Anderson before he eventually insisted he only wanted to sign for City.
Anderson made his England debut in September 2025 and has been a mainstay in Thomas Tuchel’s side since, earning 13 caps including starting all four matches at the World Cup so far.
