Man Utd eye Hall approach after Newcastle turmoil

Manchester United are reportedly ready to ramp up their pursuit of England defender Lewis Hall following news that Eddie Howe has decided to leave his role as Newcastle United head coach.

Howe has become the latest key figure to leave Newcastle this summer, following the sales of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, while captain Bruno Guimaraes is in talks to join Arsenal.

Hall has also been touted for an exit too, and Man Utd are currently regarded as the frontrunners to secure his signature, with The Sun reporting that Michael Carrick’s side are now weighing up a formal approach amid the ongoing turmoil at St James’ Park.

The Red Devils have earmarked left-back as a key priority for the summer window, with the club keen to sign a player capable of challenging Luke Shaw for a starting XI place, and Hall is regarded as the best option available following his immense form since his arrival at Newcastle.

Ndiaye identified as Rashford replacement

Manchester United have already identified a replacement for Marcus Rashford if they are able to sell the forward this summer.

United are keen to get Rashford’s wages off their books but permanent offers have so far not been forthcoming, giving the club no choice but to re-integrate the 28-year-old back into the first team squad.

A left-sided winger was high on United’s shopping list but Rashford’s return has forced those plans to be shelved unless he can be sold later in the window.

However, The Mirror report that Iliman Ndiaye has come to the ‘forefront’ of United’s shortlist on the wing, with Everton putting a £70m (€81.6m) price tag on the 26-year-old.

Rashford bids farewell to Barcelona

Rashford’s stay at United was seemingly made even more concrete after the England international posted a farewell message to Barcelona on social media, effectively confirming that he will not be returning to the La Liga side.

Barcelona loaned Rashford last season but opted against signing him permanently and, while there was hope they may look to broker another deal later in the window, those plans appear to be dead in the water, much to the player’s disappointment.

Rashford wrote: “I’m very grateful to everyone at the club for making my time here such a positive and memorable experience. I’ve enjoyed every moment and will take many special memories with me.

“I wish the club and all its supporters the very best of luck and every success in the season ahead.”

Man Utd confirm Fredricson sale

Man Utd have confirmed that young defender Tyler Fredricson has agreed a permanent transfer to Swiss side Lausanne-Sport.

Fredricson came through United’s academy and made four appearances in total for the first team but the 21-year-old has now signed a three-year deal with Lausanne, who are also owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS.

United are believed to have inserted a ‘high percentage’ sell-on clause in the deal, as well as retaining an option to buy Fredricson back at a future date, although the fee Lausanne have paid has not been disclosed.

Fredricson becomes United’s first senior sale of the summer, having previously agreed to join Celtic in January of this year only for the deal to break down due to the youngster suffering an injury.
