Creative Rashford solution rejected

It seemed like Marcus Rashford was destined to sign for Barcelona on a permanent basis following a successful loan spell at Camp Nou last season, but the Blaugrana ultimately refused to pay the asking price that would have triggered the deal.

United and Barca have been negotiating since the loan deal came to an end and it doesn't seem like they'll come to an agreement on price.

However, the Red Devils are willing to go back to the table and negotiate the England winger's departure if Barcelona are willing to include young midfielder Marc Bernal in any deal.

Unfortunately for them, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barca have no intention of including Bernal in the deal and that the player himself doesn't want the move. Oh well.

Time is of the essence for Stiller

United have already signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer but more midfield reinforcements are desired by Michel Carrick, especially after the Ederson deal fell through.

They hold a long-standing interest in Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller who has a release clause worth €36.5m in his contract, according to BILD.

But, that release clause apparently ends on Wednesday, 15 July, so if United want him they may have to pay over the odds.

The German outlet reports that the club scouted Stiller in the flesh on numerous occasions last season.

Greenwood windfall

The club received a welcome windfall from Mason Greenwood's move to Fenerbahce.

As part of the deal that sent him to Marseille in 2024, United included a sell-on clause that would see them earn a percentage of his next transfer.

Today, he signed for the Turkish giants for €39m, which earned United a bonus of €12m.

Ederson deal dead

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Ederson deal is completely dead and Man Utd will not look to sign the player later in this window, despite previous reports to the contrary.

“Today. Atalanta director Cristiano Giuntoli confirmed exactly what I told you,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“Ederson to Manchester United is over. Completely over. Some people said maybe Man Utd could come back in August. It's not true. Manchester United decided against signing Ederson and sent him back to Atalanta. Ederson is very sad and very disappointed.

“Giuntoli said today that Atalanta were stunned by what happened with Manchester United because they didn't expect it at all.

“He also confirmed Atalanta have offered Ederson a new contract because they want to keep the player.

“So the deal is completely off. Forget all the stories saying Manchester United could come back later. It was off on Friday, off on Saturday, off on Sunday, and finally on Monday it was confirmed.”
