Man Utd Transfer News Today: Blockbuster Rashford swap deal considered
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Man Utd transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Marcus Rashford and Francisco Conceicao.
Rashford-Kone swap?
Man Utd have made their interest in Roma midfielder Manu Kone known for a while, but up until now have not been willing to pay the Italian side's €60 million asking price.
Roma do want to sell the player due to Financial Fair Play concerns but they are remaining firm on their valuation.
One solution, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, would be to include Marcus Rashford in any deal.
The Italian outlet suggests that Roma may lower their asking price for Kone if they can get Rashford on loan for a year, but United would need to pay a significant portion of his salary.
The England winger spent last season on loan at Barcelona and enjoyed his time at Camp Nou, but the Blaugrana opted against signing him on a permanent basis. His wages mean that only a select few clubs in Europe and possibly the Middle East could afford to sign him this summer.
Conceicao a target?
Man Utd’s transfer market focus this summer has been on midfielders, with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans through the door already, with one more set to follow.
However, Michael Carrick is keen to bolster his attacking options, too, and Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao has emerged as a target, according to the Guardian.
The Portuguese winger scored three goals and recorded five assists in 31 Serie A matches for the Bianconeri last season.
United should never have sold Welbeck
Gary Neville believes that Man Utd made a mistake in allowing Danny Welbeck to sign for Arsenal a decade ago.
The veteran striker has enjoyed a career renaissance with Brighton over the past few seasons and is on the cusp of a huge switch to Chelsea.
"I said ten years ago that Manchester United should never have sold Danny Welbeck," Neville told Sky Sports.
"He's gone away and done brilliantly well. He's coming into a little cameo at the end of his career, but he's a fantastic player. I obviously worked with him as a teammate, and I worked with him with England as a coach, and he was fantastic for England, and he's been good in the Premier League as well."
That Welbeck deal should be announced soon.
Fiorentina in for Sancho
Fiorentina have offered Jadon Sancho a bumper wage of €10m a year to join the Serie A side after he left United as a free agent, reports Tuttomercatoweb.
The winger has spent the last few seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa, none of whom opted to pay money to sign him permanently.
In addition to Fiorentina, former club BVB have reportedly offered Sancho a contract, as well as Qatar side Al-Rayyan.
Vlahovic an option
Should Joshua Zirkzee complete his expected return to Serie A with Juventus, then Man Utd will need to source a replacement.
At the moment, Benjamin Sesko is the only senior centre-forward in Carrick's squad so reinforcements are needed in that department.
One option, and a cheap one, is Dusan Vlahovic, who is available to sign on a free transfer after he left Juve upon the expiration of his contract.
The i Paper reports that Ollie Watkins is an option, too, though he'll obviously be much more expensive.
