Chelsea have been boosted in their pursuit of Alex Scott this summer despite Bournemouth rejecting an offer for their want-away midfielder.

Bournemouth have insisted that Scott is not for sale after turning down a £64 million (€75m) offer from Chelsea this week but the player is still understood to be keen on a move.

Scott’s contract with the Cherries is set to expire in 2028 and the 22-year-old has not been willing to extend his deal despite persistence from Bournemouth to tie him down to fresh terms.

The England international is believed to be in search of a new challenge, with Standard Sport revealing that Scott wants to join Chelsea, although Bournemouth have not given up hope of convincing him to sign a new deal.

Bournemouth are believed to have offered Scott a new deal in March but negotiations have slowed since then and the player is hoping to leave the club this summer despite a hardline stance.

The likes of Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked with Scott but Bournemouth are adamant they will not sell their star man, leaving the ball in Chelsea’s court to potentially submit another bid and test the Cherries’ resolve.

Scott desperate to join Chelsea to boost England chances

Scott has been impressive since joining Bournemouth in 2023 for €23m and he narrowly missed out on a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup, instead being selected to train with the team prior to the tournament.

Tuchel is believed to see Scott as one of the players who can refresh England’s midfield going forward after the disappointing semi-final loss to Argentina in North America.

However, Scott is believed to want to move a bigger club in order to maximise his international credentials and he has no intention to sign a new contract despite Bournemouth’s efforts.

New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso is thought to be keen on signing Scott, particularly with the future of Enzo Fernandez still uncertain, although the Blues will look to avoid paying a major fee after breaking their transfer record to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa this week.
