Zadok Yohanna is poised to break the Swedish transfer record this summer when he leaves AIK, having attracted as many as 32 scouts to watch him in recent weeks.

The young Nigerian has enjoyed a remarkable pathway towards the very top of the game, with Real Madrid, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle and Brighton among the clubs vying to sign the 18-year-old.

Newcastle have already launched a bid worth €24 million for the 19-year-old winger, Expressen reports. This is a figure that would dwarf the €20m fee Tottenham paid to Djurgarden to sign Lucas Bergvall in the summer of 2024.

AIK have previously announced that they are in negotiations over a transfer, with Brighton having reportedly put €21-22m on the table and Ligue 1 side Rennes also interested.

Yohanna, who turns 19 on 29 June, will become the fourth player to leave Sweden for a transfer fee of €10m or over. Each of these deals has come in the last two years, underlining the increasing reputation of the Allsvenskan as a league for talent development.

Yohanna signed by Agent12

Yohanna joined AIK in July 2025 in a unique deal from Ikon Allah FA. He cost €750,000 in a deal that was funded by the Swedish side’s Agent12 programme.

AIK started Agent12 in 2025 in a bid to make themselves more financially competitive with their rivals, offering fans the opportunity to contribute to signing young prospects who are no older than 18.

Yohanna is the first evidence of the success of this program. Any money that AIK receive for the player – and this is bound to be substantial – will be paid back into Agent12 to allow the club to receive more money.

What sort of player is Yohanna?

Yohanna is a classic right winger who already has an immensely high offensive output.

Through his first seven league appearances of the season, he has scored two goals and laid on two more. In addition to this, he has three goals and an assist in the cup.

A high shot volume characterises his performances. With 23 attempts in only seven games, he sits eighth in terms of shots-per-90 in the league, having missed the last three rounds of games due to injury. This has been achieved despite playing in a side that won only two of these outings.

The other notable statistic behind Yohanna is his enormous dribble count. He attempts 9.78 per 90 minutes, which is the highest in the league so far this season.

There are elements of Yan Diomande to his game. The RB Leipzig winger has burst onto the scene in the Bundesliga this season to become touted as a €100m transfer target for Liverpool and PSG thanks to his directness, and Yohanna is following in his footsteps as part of this new breed of winger that has been spearheaded by Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in Paris.

Can he match Diomande’s impact?

Yohanna finds himself in a position whereby he has exploded so quickly, the analytics are struggling to keep pace. He has played only 18 senior games for AIK, yet having scored five goals and fashioned four assists, the hype around him as built to fever pitch levels.

These are formidable numbers, and the challenge for those watching him is judging how sustainable they are at a high level.

The manner in which Diomande exploded in Leipzig has fuelled hopes that he could be the next great winger, and the fact that as many as 32 scouts from across Europe’s biggest clubs are already watching him proves the excitement that has built around this Nigerian teenager is justified.
