Osimhen transfer truth

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is not currently in talks over a transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has claimed that Osimhen is unable to play for his country because he is currently discussing a potential transfer, but those close to the player have dismissed this suggestion. Romano, too, says that the striker is not in talks over a move.

Over the weekend, claims emerged that Osimhen is considered a "dream" target for Man Utd, who are looking to replace Joshua Zirkzee. The Nigerian superstar is believed to be one of five striker profiles currently being considered.

As things stand, however, there are no talks. "I can guarantee that Victor Osimhen, who is representing himself together with his lawyers, at the moment is not aware of any negotiation," Romano said.

"Either there is something behind the scenes that Galatasaray are negotiating without telling the player, but I doubt that. That would be kind of crazy, especially with not just a player, but a phenomenal player and the face of the project like Victor Osimhen. This story sounds very strange. Maybe it was a misunderstanding."

Ederson deal imminent

Man Utd are "closing in" on the signing of Atalanta midfielder Ederson, as per talkSPORT.

The Red Devils have been in talks over a move for the Brazil international for a couple of weeks, following a breakdown in discussions between Atalanta and Atletico Madrid. Man Utd used the opportunity to swoop in for Ederson.

Personal terms over a contract for the 26-year-old are already in place. Discussions with Atalanta over the financial package are entering the final stage, with a move now believed to be imminent for a fee in the region of €40 million.

Carrick wants Hackney

Man Utd are once again being linked with a move for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.

The Northern Echo writes that Michael Carrick, who has been promoted from interim to permanent head coach, is "championing" the signing of his former Boro protégé.

Carrick has maintained a strong relationship with Hackney and believes that he is good enough to make the step up to Man Utd, who will look to sign at least one more midfielder after wrapping up a deal for Ederson.

Tchouameni still eyed

Fabrizio Romano reports that Man Utd remain keen on Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

The transfer insider has reiterated that Man Utd believe that the France international would be the perfect replacement for departing midfielder Casemiro. However, Real Madrid are reluctant to sanction a move, with both Tchouameni himself and Florentino Perez stating that a move is unlikely.

"For Man Utd, Aurelien Tchouameni is kind of the target. Man Utd believe Tchouameni could be the perfect player in midfield to replace Casemiro. Coming from the same club, Real Madrid, winning mentality, top player, elite player, international, who can defend and score goals.

"They love Tchouameni, but there are two problems. The first one is the salary, which is a huge salary. And the second is that Real Madrid keep saying, in public and also in private, that their intention is to keep Aurelien Tchouameni."
