Confirmed: Man Utd star in daily talks over summer transfer
Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has revealed that he is in daily talks with Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana as he looks to sign the 30-year-old on a permanent transfer this summer.
Onana spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Trabzonspor, after a dismal spell as Man Utd’s first choice shot-stopper, and he enjoyed a positive campaign at the club, notably helping them win the Turkish Cup after a 2-1 win over Konyaspor in the final.
The Cameroon international had lost his place to Altay Bayindir at Old Trafford before his temporary move to Trabzonspor, and with Senne Lammens performing exceptionally well following his arrival from Royal Antwerp, Man Utd are now ready to sell Onana permanently this summer.
The former Inter Milan goalkeeper still has two years remaining on his current contract with Michael Carrick’s side, but he is expected to depart before the end of Deadline Day on 1 September and widespread reports have confirmed that Trabzonspor want to bring him back to the club.
This has been confirmed by Dogan, who told reporters (via The Mirror): “We speak with Onana every day. We won't have any financial difficulties.”
However, the Trabzonspor president then admitted that he is prepared to walk away from negotiations with Man Utd if the Red Devils are unwilling to set a reasonable asking price.
“We'll make the necessary sacrifices. I don't think we will experience any setbacks. But if we do, we will find another goalkeeper of the same quality,” he added.
Who will Man Utd sell and sign this summer?
Onana is one of several Man Utd stars expected to be sold by the club this summer, with Manuel Ugarte set to depart on a permanent deal and rumours regarding Joshua Zirkzee’s future refusing to go away.
Rasmus Hojlund has already completed a €44 million move to Napoli, following a successful loan stint with the Serie A club last season, while Man Utd will lose Casemiro on a Bosman deal when his contract expires at the end of June.
In regards to potential incomings, Man Utd want to sign at least two new central midfielders and it’s understood that a deal for Atalanta star Ederson is in place. He is expected to become the club’s first signing of the summer and he will likely be joined by another midfielder, with the likes of Alex Scott, Carlos Baleba, Mateus Fernandes and several others on Man Utd’s radar.
The Red Devils are also eager to sign a new left-back and a new left winger, with Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall a top target for the former position.
