Huge developments have taken place in the transfer sagas of both Bernardo Silva and Elliot Anderson, while insider Fabrizio Romano has earmarked the situation of Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali as one to watch.

Newcastle push to sign Victor Munoz

Newcastle have made a move to sign Osasuna winger Victor Munoz, who has been linked with a move to both Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer.

“He has done very well at Osasuna this season and now Newcastle are ready to attack,” Romano said.

“Newcastle sent an official bid to Osasuna and there is big confidence because they believe the player wants the move.

“Victor Munoz changed his agency a few weeks ago because he was preparing for a move.

“Now there is more than €30 million guaranteed on the table for Osasuna and Newcastle believe he is ready to take the next step and move to the Premier League.”

Romano believes that Real Madrid will not exercise their buy-back clause for the player but are instead happy to pocket over €15m from the deal.

“Real Madrid have a buy-back clause and a 50 per cent sell-on clause. So Real Madrid basically have two options. They can activate the buy-back and bring the player back, or they can take a percentage of the sale.

“My understanding is that Real Madrid are expected to make a profit. “The expectation is not for them to activate the buy-back clause. Instead, they would receive around €16m-17m from the sale of Victor Munoz.

“That is why Newcastle remain optimistic and this could be one of the next ‘Here We Go’ deals.”

Nico Paz wants one more year at Como

Another player whose future Real Madrid control is Nico Paz, who is officially a Como player, but who can return to the Bernabeu during the transfer window due to a buy-back option. That is not something the Argentine wants.

“Nico Paz has informed Real Madrid in a very fair way that he would like to stay one more season at Como,” he said.

“He is not saying ‘I don’t want Real Madrid’.

“He is saying that at Como he can play 50 games between Serie A and the Champions League, be the No.10, be the star of the team and play every week. At Real Madrid, there is a possibility he would spend much more time on the bench.

“Nico Paz would be very happy to stay one more season at Como and then return to Real Madrid in 2027. But Real Madrid originally wanted him back immediately.

“Now the decision depends on Jose Mourinho and what the club decides to do in midfield.”

Bernardo Silva emerges as major Real Madrid target

The biggest story of the day, according to Romano, concerns Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, who is days away from becoming a free agent.

“The big bomba is that Real Madrid are in advanced talks to sign Bernardo Silva,” Romano said.

“In the last 24 hours, Real Madrid have entered into serious, concrete and strong negotiations.”

Romano explained that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid had both been involved previously, but Real Madrid have now moved aggressively.

He added: “Bernardo Silva had been speaking with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid under different conditions. But now Real Madrid have arrived very strongly in this race.

“Jose Mourinho is a factor because he is Portuguese. Jorge Mendes is also involved. He is Mourinho’s agent and Bernardo Silva’s agent.

“That is not the key to the deal because Mendes also has excellent relationships with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, but it is certainly a connection.

“My understanding is that Mourinho would be very happy to have a leader and a quality midfielder like Bernardo Silva. He sees him as a player who can help immediately.”

Although nothing has been signed yet, Romano suggested a breakthrough could arrive soon.

“Bernardo Silva has not signed anything. He already made it clear that he wanted to decide his future after the World Cup. But Real Madrid have arrived very, very strongly. They want to close this deal as soon as possible and they are optimistic,” the transfer insider said.

“I would not be surprised if we have a verbal agreement and a ‘Here We Go’ soon.”

Manchester City see £121m Elliot Anderson bid rejected

Romano confirmed that Manchester City had an enormous bid for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson knocked back.

“Manchester City offered £121m including add-ons for Elliot Anderson. That was £106m guaranteed plus £15m in add-ons. But Nottingham Forest rejected the proposal,” he said.

“Forest want guaranteed money and they want the deal to become officially the most expensive midfielder transfer in Premier League history.

“More than Declan Rice and more than Moises Caicedo.”

Romano said City must now decide whether to continue their pursuit.

“It was already a huge proposal. Now we have to see what Manchester City decide to do next,” he added.

Sandro Tonali attracting major interest

One of the players Manchester City could turn their attentions to is Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali, who has been attracting interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

“Manchester City really appreciate Sandro Tonali. Arsenal and other clubs in England also have interest. So Tonali is absolutely a player to watch,” Romano said.

“We started talking about Victor Munoz potentially arriving at Newcastle. But Newcastle could also lose Sandro Tonali this summer.

“There is movement, there is interest and it is definitely a situation to follow.”

Glasner to AC Milan? It’s not done yet

Romano finished with an update on Milan’s hunt for a new head coach.

“Oliver Glasner is being described as very close by some reports. According to my information, he is certainly a candidate, but it is not done and not that advanced,” he said.

“Ruben Amorim remains a candidate. And Matthias Jaissle of Al-Ahli is another candidate being considered by Milan.

“So the search for the new coach is still open.”
