Marc Cucurella completes surprise Real Madrid move

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has signed for Real Madrid, with Romano reflecting on his YouTube channel:

“The big bomba of the day is 100% confirmed, done and sealed. Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid is a here we go.

“It came completely out of nowhere and those are always some of the best deals to report.

“Real Madrid and Chelsea have closed all the documents. The deal is worth €55 million guaranteed plus €5m in add-ons, so a total package of €60m.

“Cucurella has agreed a very long contract with Real Madrid and he already had authorisation to complete the medical. Everything is done between the player and Real Madrid, and everything is done between the clubs.”

Romano stressed that Real Madrid’s spending spree is far from over.

“After Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate and Jose Mourinho as manager, now comes Marc Cucurella,” he added.

“But get ready because Real Madrid want more.

“Their transfer market is not closed. There will be more movement and I will tell you more in the next few days.”

Chelsea’s plan for replacing Cucurella: Hato to step up

While Chelsea are likely to dip into the market to replace Cucurella, the Blues hold a strong belief that they already have a player capable of taking his spot.

“Chelsea really trust Jorrel Hato,” Romano said. “They believe they have a fantastic talent and they were very happy with his development during the second half of last season.

“After adapting initially, Chelsea feel Hato can become a very important player for the club.

“They are still likely to add another player who can cover multiple positions.

“But internally the feeling around Hato remains extremely positive.”

Sami Khedira joins Jose Mourinho's coaching staff

Romano also revealed a major appointment behind the scenes at Real Madrid.

“July 13 will be the official start of the Jose Mourinho era,” Romano confirmed. “But today we can reveal the identity of one of Mourinho's assistant coaches.

“It will not be Pepe. It will not be Ricardo Carvalho. It will be Sami Khedira.

“The deal was agreed today between Khedira, his representatives and Real Madrid.

“Mourinho called Khedira over the last two days and convinced him. They have always had a fantastic relationship. Mourinho trusts him as a leader and believes he can communicate with players in a special way. So Khedira will become one of the faces of this new Real Madrid project.”

Pedro Porro signs new Tottenham contract

One player who will not be joining Real Madrid is Pedro Porro.

“Pedro Porro was discussed internally at Real Madrid. They looked at several options including Porro, Dumfries and Ivan Fresneda. But Tottenham never wanted to sell,” Romano said.

“When discussions took place internally at Tottenham, Roberto De Zerbi's message was very simple. He said: ‘This player is going nowhere. He is too important for the project.’

“Pedro Porro has signed a new contract.

“He gets a pay rise and remains one of the faces of the new Tottenham project.”

Josko Gvardiol expected to stay at Manchester City

Romano also provided a fresh update on the future of Josko Gvardiol, who is another defender to have been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

“The expectation is for Josko Gvardiol to sign a new contract at Manchester City,” Romano stated. “The discussions are advancing very positively. Manchester City believe Gvardiol will put pen to paper very soon.”

“Pep Guardiola left. John Stones left. Bernardo Silva left. To lose another key player would have been a setback.

“There was interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, but City now expect him to stay.”

Ruben Amorim emerges as Milan favourite

In Italy, AC Milan are finally closing in on their new boss, with former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim poised to get the nod.

“Ruben Amorim is getting closer to becoming the new Milan coach,” Romano confirmed.

“Remember that Amorim was due compensation from Manchester United after his departure.

“The good news for United is that the compensation will be lower than expected because he is moving closer to another job.

“The expectation is for Milan to make their final choice early next week.

“At the moment Ruben Amorim is the clear leading candidate and favourite for the job.”

Bayern closing in on Nathanael Brown and Ismael Saibari

Romano finished with updates on two Bayern Munich targets currently starring at the World Cup.

“Nathanael Brown made his World Cup debut for Germany and immediately delivered an assist and a goal against Curacao,” he said. “Now you understand why Bayern are pushing so hard.”

“Bayern are set to pay around €55m. The agreement with the player is done and the club-to-club details are being finalised.”

Romano also expects Bayern to complete the signing of Ismael Saibari shortly.

“Saibari scored for Morocco against Brazil and once again showed why Bayern want him.

“He can play as a No.10, as a winger and in several different positions.

“Bayern and PSV are working through the final details. The here we go is coming very soon. The deal has been very close for some time.

“There is already somebody from Bayern in the United States to complete the medical tests.

“So now it's really just a matter of technical steps before everything becomes official.”
