Yan Diomande ‘close’ to Liverpool move
Liverpool are “close” to completing a sensational transfer swoop for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who could replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
Salah has announced that he will quit the Reds in the summer, leading to a flurry of speculation over who might replace him.
Dream target Michael Olise might be out of reach, but Diomande, who is valued around the €100 million mark by Leipzig, is on the verge of making his way to Anfield for the 2026/27 season, according to Indykaila.
Liverpool making transfer plans
Although speculation continues to swirl around Arne Slot’s future at Anfield, behind the scenes at Anfield, Liverpool chiefs are planning the club’s transfer market and appear to be nearing a first major deal.
The in-the-know X account reports: “We can now confirm via our sources that Arne Slot is unlikely to be Liverpool manager next season unless he wins the Champions League.
“Liverpool are already making transfer plans, and we understand Yan Diomande is close to agreeing a move to Liverpool.”
This comes despite claims from Germany that Leipzig are only planning one major sale this summer, with that earmarked as Liverpool-linked centre-back Castello Lukeba.
Indykaila add that Tottenham’s versatile midfielder Archie Gray is interested in a move to Liverpool if a deal can be reached between the clubs.
How would Diomande fit in at Liverpool?
Diomande would be a massive coup for the Reds, having been one of the stars of the Bundesliga this season. He has 10 goals and seven assists in 27 appearances in Germany’s top flight.
This is the type of production that has seen the 19-year-old touted as a suitable replacement for Salah.
But there are some concerns. With Slot increasingly looking likely to leave Anfield there are doubts over how Diomande might be used by the incoming manager.
Xabi Alonso remains the red-hot favourite to take over the defending Premier League champions but has most typically favoured a system that employs wing-backs rather than wingers.
With Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike favourites to be handed the No.10 roles in the Spaniard’s system behind Alexander Isak, it begs the question how the 19-year-old might fit in at Anfield if Alonso takes command.
Certainly, with Liverpool trailing PSG 2-0 after the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, the prospects of Slot winning the competition to save his job appear slim.
What is Indykaila?
Indykaila is a long-running anonymous football transfer gossip account on X, active since 2012, that mixes rumours, aggregation, and occasional scoops.
It gained particular recognition in the summer of 2025 when David Ornstein cited it when linking Manchester United with a move for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.
Indykaila called Liverpool’s desire to sign Alexander Isak and Jeremie Frimpong early during the summer of 2025, following “investment” into the account, which on the face of things has carried it from the realms of quirky account to a meaningful news source.
It accurately reported that Ibrahima Konate had been offered a “final” deal with Liverpool earlier this week, while it has also claimed that Slot has offered his resignation as Liverpool manager at the end of the season.
