Newcastle set Gordon price after Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd enquiries
Newcastle insist that it would require an Alexander Isak-level fee to prise Anthony Gordon away in the summer amid interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd.
The England winger has become one of the standout performers at Newcastle since joining the club from Everton for €45.6 million in January 2023. This term, Gordon has scored 14 goals and provided five assists.
Most of his attacking output has come in the Champions League. This, as Gordon himself has pointed out, is because teams in Europe actually try to "play football," leaving more space for the 24-year-old to run into with his blistering pace.
When it comes to breaking down Premier League defences, Gordon struggles to have the same kind of impact. This should be a warning sign to the division's elite clubs, but he nevertheless continues to be linked with a move to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd.
Indeed, rumours are once again ramping up that Gordon, who was previously close to joining boyhood club Liverpool when Newcastle needed to balance the books, could be on the move in the summer transfer window.
Newcastle's Gordon stance
Newcastle, having overcome their financial difficulties, will not make life easy for Gordon's suitors. According to TEAMtalk, the Magpies have no intention of letting their star winger leave after this season.
In fact, club sources insist that it would require an extraordinary fee to test that resolve, potentially one in the same ballpark as the €145 million Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak last summer.
Gordon, for his part, still harbours long-term ambitions of moving to Anfield, but he is pessimistic about the chances of a transfer materialising this summer because of Newcastle's stance.
This not-for-sale stance extends to the St. James' Park club's other star players as well. Newcastle are determined not to lose any of their key performers, despite growing interest in the likes of Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Tino Livramento.
