Man Utd January transfer revelation: Top source confirms ‘sure’ Amorim target
Manchester United are ready to make a surprising move in the January transfer window, with a leading source confirming that Ruben Amorim is “for sure” looking at replacing one of his starting players.
Antoine Semenyo is certainly a target for United as January approaches, with the Bournemouth star sought to bolster the attacking options open to Amorim.
And the Red Devils are widely expected to be in the market for a central midfielder. While it is probable that they will have to be patient to sign one of their leading targets, such as Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba or Elliot Anderson, Amorim’s side are considering the bargain signing of Ruben Neves.
Man Utd want to replace Dorgu
But it is unlikely these deals will be the only the Old Trafford side attempt to conduct, with Caught Offside reporting that Patrick Dorgu finds his place at the club under pressure just a year after arriving in a €30 million deal from Lecce.
The Sun has claimed that the Denmark international could be replaced at left-back by Antoine Semenyo, but while this left-field plan seems to be off the mark, it has been confirmed that Dorgu’s spot is one that Man Utd are looking to upgrade.
A source has confirmed: “It’s no secret that he has had a difficult time at United. Coming in as a starter… it was too soon for him. They’ll be looking at that position, for sure.”
Two targets identified
United have been linked with players in the left-back area already. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown is someone they have looked at, although Arsenal are also tracking the 22-year-old.
Similarly, Newcastle defender Tino Livramento is another player they have tracked, although Manchester City are the leading candidate to snap up the England star.
It is claimed that United have likely waited for Dorgu to develop, but with the desired impact not coming from the 21-year-old, they are looking at alternatives.
