Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Man Utd ONE TO WATCH, Barca PLAN, Glasner BOMB
Fabrizio Romano has shared key January transfer window insights, with major developments involving Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, Barcelona’s centre-back search, emerging AFCON talents, and Atletico Madrid’s stance on Conor Gallagher.
Oliver Glasner future at Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace’s managerial situation could become one of the most important stories heading into 2026.
“Let me start with the manager today, because one of the most appreciated managers in Europe, who is doing an incredible job, two trophies at Crystal Palace in the last year, Oliver Glasner, is definitely one to watch in 2026,” Romano told his YouTube channel.
“According to my information, Oliver Glasner has decided not to sign a new contract at Crystal Palace. The decision has been made after long discussions. It is not just about money, it is about projects and ideas.
“Despite selling players and making changes, he keeps delivering results and bringing trophies to the club, which is an incredible and surprising achievement for Crystal Palace.
“Remember this Christmas video, because in the next months, when top clubs around Europe explore new managers, Oliver Glasner will be one of the names in the managerial domino ahead of the summer transfer window.”
Barcelona plans for a new centre-back
Barcelona are actively assessing defensive options following injuries and squad uncertainty.
“I told you a few days ago that Barcelona are looking for a new centre-back. This is a desire of Hansi Flick.
“Hansi Flick is not the kind of manager who complains. He is open to discussion. If there is an opportunity, he is happy. Otherwise, he will always find a solution.
“After the injury of Andreas Christensen and the situation of Ronald Araujo, Flick has indicated that a new centre-back could be an opportunity if the right name is available on the market.
“Axel Disasi has been offered to Barcelona, but only on a permanent transfer. He cannot leave Chelsea on loan.
“He is still on a big salary and there is interest also from Roma, Olympique Lyon and Paris FC. At the moment, Barcelona have not proceeded.
“Another name is Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth. He is out of contract in the summer and expected to leave in 2026.
“Barcelona have called to understand the situation. Juventus did the same. For January, it does not look easy. A summer move on a free is more likely, but he remains a player Barcelona are monitoring.”
The Blaugrana’s approach remains focused on market opportunities rather than marquee spending.
“I do not expect Barcelona to sign a superstar centre-back in January.
“If there is a big name at a normal price in the summer, Barcelona could add one more defender. For now, it is more about market opportunities.”
AFCON talent Etta Eyong on Barcelona radar
Barcelona continue to follow emerging talent during the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Talents are always a big asset on the market and Barcelona are monitoring the AFCON.
“Karl Etta Eyong, striker from Levante, is a player Barcelona have been following for some time. He scored his first AFCON goal for Cameroon last night.
“He was already on Barcelona’s list in the summer. They did not proceed, but he remains an outstanding talent.
“I am told Premier League clubs are also monitoring him closely. Barcelona know the player very well and he remains on their shortlist.”
Yan Diomande scouted by Premier League clubs
Another AFCON standout is attracting serious attention from top English sides.
“Yan Diomande, winger at RB Leipzig, is doing very well for Ivory Coast at the AFCON.
“He has pace, dribbling ability and big potential.
“I am told Manchester United and Tottenham recently sent scouts to follow him. They are among several clubs monitoring the player.
“Leipzig are financially strong after big sales last summer, so it is possible they want to keep him for another season. It is too early to predict, but Diomande is definitely one to watch.”
Conor Gallagher transfer stance at Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid have made their position clear regarding any January move.
“The message I am getting from Atletico Madrid on Conor Gallagher is very clear.
“Atletico are only open to a permanent transfer, around €30 million. No loan.
“This was the same position in the summer, when Manchester United tried a last-minute move. It was not possible then and it is the same now.
“Sometimes in January things can change late, but as of today, the message is permanent or nothing.”
