Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson has been told to stay at Bayern despite his lack of action under Vincent Kompany.

The Senegal international is enduring a difficult season. There was plenty of excitement when he turned up in Munich after being forced out by Chelsea, but Jackson is struggling for minutes.

At the weekend, Jackson was once again left to stew on the bench for the majority of Bayern's clash with St. Pauli - a game he had been expected to start - and although he scored, it ultimately meant very little for his future.

That is because Bayern's purchase obligation for the striker will only come into effect if he either starts or plays at least 45 minutes in 40 matches this season. So far, his tally stands at six, and the game at the weekend illustrated that his move is unlikely to become permanent.

Due to his lack of action, it has been suggested that Jackson could request to have his loan cut short. The 24-year-old could still play for another club this season as he did not feature for Chelsea prior to his move to Bayern.

Jackson urged to stay at Bayern

However, former Senegal international Ferdinand Coly believes that his compatriot should grit his teeth and see out the season in Germany. He believes that moving mid-season in a World Cup year is a "double-edged sword."

“You don’t turn down Bayern Munich," Coly told Africa Foot. "Yes, he knew he’d likely have a super-sub role, but you can only improve when you play in a squad of such quality.

"It’s up to him to do everything he can to seize his opportunity. Let’s not forget the circumstances he found himself in at Chelsea. When he arrived at Bayern, he wasn’t match-fit; his preseason had been completely disrupted. So, he needed time to get back to his best.

“I did read that clubs, particularly in England and Spain, are interested in him. This proves he remains highly regarded. That said, I’m not convinced that leaving this winter would be a good solution. It would mean adapting to a new squad, a new coach, and perhaps a new country.

“Personally, I think it would be more beneficial for Jackson to finish the season at Bayern and then find another club, if the Germans don’t exercise this option and if Chelsea doesn’t want to keep him.

“Because the World Cup is approaching, and changing clubs during the winter transfer window is a double-edged sword. He’ll have to discuss it with his agent.”
