Marcus Rashford’s move to Barcelona will reportedly be ‘blown apart’ in a transfer twist that provides a boost for Manchester United and Ruben Amorim.

Rashford departed Old Trafford in the summer to join Barca on loan, and since moving to the Catalan side has thrived. The England international has 14 goal contributions across 17 games for Hansi Flick’s side, generally impressing with his overall level after a difficult spell in England.

Although Barcelona have a purchase option worth just €35 million for the 28-year-old, there are doubts whether the deal will be concluded. The Blaugrana need Rashford to slash his wages to complete a permanent move to Camp Nou as their financial situation means they cannot afford more.

Flick’s side also face the possibility of replacing Robert Lewandowski in the summer, with the prolific Pole out of contract come June. Finding a suitable player to step into such boots will naturally be an expensive business.

But this could play into Man Utd’s hands.

PSG ready €50m Rashford bid – report

PSG could step up and make a big-money move for Rashford, according to Fichajes, which suggests that Luis Enrique’s European champions are considering a bid worth €50m for the winger. This move, it is claimed, would “blow apart” Barcelona’s hopes of landing the player.

This is much more in line with his true worth. Rashford has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €52.2m, well above what Barcelona will contractually have to pay for him but almost bang on the money that PSG are reportedly willing to offer.

With United hardly awash with cash to make the type of signings that Amorim would wish for his side, an additional €15m into the kitty would represent a sizeable boost and make it easier for the Red Devils to sign their top targets.

Will Rashford finally move to PSG?

PSG have been linked with a move for Rashford before, but it’s questionable whether he is the type of player that Luis Enrique is really after.

At 28, the Englishman is significantly older than the typical profile of signing that PSG have been making under the guidance of sporting director Luis Campos, while his high-profile fallout with Amorim suggests he is the type of outspoken star in the dressing room that Les Parisiens have actively tried to distance themselves from in recent times.

However, PSG are likely to be in the market for a wide attacking option, and if Rashford continues his hot form, Man Utd can look forward to serious interest coming in their academy product.
