Mbeumo’s AFCON replacement revealed

United face a problem in the early weeks of 2026 with star man Bryan Mbeumo set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations along with Old Trafford club-mates Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui.

The Cameroon international, who joined the Red Devils this summer in a €75 million deal from Brentford, will be particularly missed, and Amorim is hoping to plug the gap that his forward will leave from within the club.

In particular, Shea Lacey is set to be given opportunities to shine, having made a positive impact in training.

This also spells trouble for Joshua Zirkzee, who has been told that he made the wrong decision to join Man Utd from Bologna.

Rashford to Barcelona update

Man Utd loanee Marcus Rashford’s hopes of signing on a permanent basis for Barcelona seem to have struck a potentially fatal problem as reports indicate that the Catalan side will not be able to afford him next summer.

Barca remain under significant financial pressure due to the Spanish League’s Financial Fair Play restrictions and will instead prioritise re-signing their existing stars.

It’s not all bad news for Amorim’s side, though. A clutch of other clubs are tracking the attacker and it may well be that they can recoup a bigger transfer fee for the 28-year-old attacker following this twist.

A release fee of €30m was agreed with Barcelona, but now the Red Devils will hold out for more like €45m, with PSG and Bayern Munich among the interested clubs.

Yoro reveals dressing room secret

Man Utd centre-back Leny Yoro has revealed that one of the secrets of the club’s resurgence this season has been the positive atmosphere around the locker room.

Speaking to The i Paper, he said: “The club is doing well with this, to take only people who can bring good things. We don’t want any bad things. It’s really important to be focused on the team.

“We don’t do any drama. Just speak with everyone, have a good relationship. This is the best for the team. We cannot build something with bad energy or bad atmosphere, or bad characters.”

Sancho back to Dortmund?

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are interested in re-signing Man Utd flop Jadon Sancho for a third time.

That is according to Football Insider, who claim that Niko Kovac’s side are eager to bring the Englishman back to Germany if he becomes available on a free transfer next summer.

Sancho, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, is into the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, although Man Utd do have the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

However, reports have speculated that Sancho will be allowed to depart on a Bosman deal in order to avoid the possibility of paying his wages for another year.

Man Utd end Endrick chase

Manchester United have reportedly accepted defeat in their pursuit of Real Madrid striker Endrick amid competition from Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais.

The Red Devils had identified the 19-year-old as a key transfer target ahead of the upcoming January window, with Ruben Amorim reportedly eager to land a new centre forward to provide cover for summer signing Benjamin Sesko.

Man Utd initiated talks with Real Madrid over a possible January move for Endrick amid his lack of game time in the Spanish capital, however the proposed transfer has now collapsed as Los Blancos have no intention of sanctioning a permanent exit.

That is according to CaughtOffside, who claim that Man Utd were only interested in signing Endrick permanently, with a loan deal of little interest to the Red Devils.

Lyon are now considered to be the frontrunners to land the Brazil youngster during the winter transfer window and talks are expected to intensify as January edges closer.
