Arsenal have been in talks with Jorge Mendes to discuss the possibility of signing Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz.

Fabrizio Romano has previously said that Chelsea are “calling” the 20-year-old Turkey international star, but the 20-year-old could be on his way to their London rivals, according to a sensational report.

Officials from the Gunners have been spotted speaking to Mendes over the possibility of snapping up Yildiz, who has scored three times in 14 appearances for Juventus this season, Caught Offside reports.

Although Juve are struggling to agree a new contract with the sensation they picked up on a free from Bayern Munich, they are unwilling to see the youngster, who is under contract until 2029, leave cheaply.

A price tag in the region of €90-100m is being discussed.

This is unlikely to put off Arsenal, who have shown their financial muscle in recent years by completing mega-money deals for the likes of Declan Rice and Viktor Gyokeres.

While Yildiz’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) sits only around the €70m mark, the sheer competition that is likely to emerge for the player suggests a bidding war could take place. Already, powerful Premier League rivals have emerged, with Manchester United and Chelsea both interested in the player.

How good is Kenan Yildiz?

Yildiz is rated as Serie A’s biggest prospect, with the 20-year-old coming out on top by quite some distance ahead of Assane Diao of Como, the other major attacking prospect in the league aged under 21.

What’s more, he has been the Italian top-flight’s outstanding attacking midfielder so far this season, performing particularly well in terms of his finishing, positioning and passing, according to data analytics experts SciSports.

And his potential to go all the way to the top under Mikel Arteta is highlighted by the fact that SciSports also believes that he has the potential to become a key player for the club.

Arsenal’s interest in Yildiz confirms their desire to sign the brightest talent around Europe, which has also seen them linked with a move for Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong in recent weeks.
