Man Utd take advantage of Bellingham row to sign Amorim's dream target
Manchester United have reportedly rekindled their interest in England U21 international Jobe Bellingham amid his uncertain future at Borussia Dortmund.
The 20-year-old followed in his older brother’s footsteps by moving to the Signal Iduna Park this summer, however he has endured a difficult start to life in Germany and an early return to England appears to be on the cards.
Bellingham has made nine appearances across all competitions since his arrival at Borussia Dortmund, but he has only started three matches, while his father controversially confronted the club’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl in the tunnel after his son was substituted at half-time in their opening Bundesliga fixture of the season.
Bellingham Sr has since been banned from the Dortmund dressing room following his outburst, but the incident has clouded Jobe’s first few months in Germany.
Dortmund boss Niko Kovac has favoured Marcel Sabitzer and Felix Nmecha in midfield so far this season, and rumours suggest that Bellingham could be set to depart in 2026 if his situation doesn’t change.
The England U21 captain still has over four-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract with the German giants, but his lack of progress at Dortmund is being closely monitored by both Man Utd and Crystal Palace, as per BILD.
Jobe Bellingham to Man Utd?
Man Utd were interested in signing Bellingham before his move to Dortmund in June and BILD claim that Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim is a huge admirer of the 20-year-old.
The Old Trafford outfit opted against purchasing a new central midfielder over the summer, after being priced out of a move for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, however they are expected to dip into the market either in January or next summer to sign a replacement for Casemiro.
England duo Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton have both been heavily linked with a Man Utd switch in recent weeks, as has Baleba, although the club have now registered their interest in Bellingham and they could step up their pursuit of his signature if he continues to struggle for consistent game time at Borussia Dortmund.
